The Heritage High School Science Research Class has had an exciting few weeks. On April 28th, the class hosted an open house to showcase all of their hard work. Every student in the class presented their projects, including fabulous visual aids. Three of the students from this class also attended the Colorado-Wyoming Junior Academy of Science Competition (C-WJAS) on April 20th. All three students won awards at the competition.
M’Lisa Goodwin, a junior, won first place in the plant science division and was recognized for having a Top 10 paper from the competition overall. She also received an invitation to Washington D.C. for a science conference with other students and scientists. Austin Fearn, also a junior, won third place in the microbiology division and Hannah McDaniel, a senior, competed in the animal science division. Both Fearn and McDaniel received separate monetary awards from the Colorado Biology Teachers Association.
The Colorado-Wyoming Junior Academy of Science is an organization dedicated to bringing students together to network and share their research.
