Each January, Legacy Chapel’s pastor Brant Epperhart opens service by presenting a brightly-colored plastic egg to his congregation.
“I know some of you are still having nightmares about these,” jokes Epperhart. The plastic egg reminds the assembly that Easter – and therefore the annual Eggstravaganza Egg Hunt at Civic Green Park in Highlands Ranch – is right around the corner.
Carrying out the free Eggstravaganza event requires over 100 volunteers, who together stuff over 10,000 eggs, serve over 1,000 lunches, and host 15 carnival games. Dozens of local businesses contribute to the event as well – offering gift baskets, donations, and prizes – for lucky kiddos, ages 6 months – 12 years, to win.
Ultimately, these months of preparation yield a popular, fun-filled community event, attended by over 2,000 kids and parents.

Legacy Chapel fills over 10,000 plastic eggs for five huge egg hunts (ages 0-2, 3-5, 6-7, 8-9, and 10-12)
“Just as important as putting on this community outreach event – with a simple goal of providing a couple of hours of fun for kids and their parents – are the growth and bonding opportunities it provides to Legacy’s congregation,” says Kyle Kuschel. “We love seeing this event grow year after year – seeing the kids beaming makes stuffing those thousands of plastic eggs worth it.”
