The Arapahoe Rescue Patrol recently promoted Arapahoe High School students Bennett Smith, Marlo Borton and Joe Brock. Smith, a sophomore, and Borton, a junior, were promoted to the rank of sergeant in the Arapahoe Rescue Patrol (ARP). The two students now have six to ten members who report to each of them. Brock, also a junior, was promoted to the rank of 1st lieutenant. He now has between thirty and fifty people who report to him, including sergeants, and is one of only three officers at ARP. He has been with the patrol since 2012 and has served more than 1200 hours of community service in a variety of missions.
The Arapahoe Rescue Patrol is the only search and rescue team in the country that is composed of and run by high school students. It is the primary search and rescue team covering Arapahoe and Elbert counties.
