Committed to deeply getting to know the Littleton Public Schools community, Superintendent Brian Ewert has been spending much of his time out in the district’s schools. Merely two weeks into the school year, he has nearly visited them all—with plans to visit the rest in the coming days. A dad himself, there is no doubt that he has enjoyed seeing all the excited faces and bright, new backpacks fill the halls of LPS schools.
On Monday, August 17th, Superintendent Ewert visited with students, parents and teachers at Littleton Academy. Joined by Principal Shelly Russell, Ewert chatted with elementary students before their first day of class—Littleton Academy’s middle school students began on the 14th.
Asking students questions about themselves, Ewert was entertained by a wide array of responses. One student shared that she had spent her summer in India with relatives, while another student let him know that he wished he had another month of vacation. All in the amiable spirit of the morning, Ewert even gave a bit of advice, encouraging one student to make up a sensational adventure story about how she had broken her leg. With smiles all around, it was a happy morning at Littleton Academy.
On Wednesday, August 19th, Superintendent Ewert visited Littleton Preparatory Charter School. Principal Kim Ash, Director of Operations Lisa Lira and Superintendent Ewert greeted students, parents and teachers, who were equally enthusiastic about the prospect of another great school year.
Funneling down the hallways, students and parents toted bags of school supplies to brightly decorated classrooms. On their way, many stopped to chat with the new superintendent. After Ewert helped one student avoid dropping a giant bag of supplies, the young student smiled as he shook Ewert’s hand. Recognizing the happy bustle of the first day of school, Ewert was pleased he was able to share in Littleton Preparatory Charter School’s first day.
