HHS_Natasha Liggett_2015Natasha Liggett of Heritage High School has been named a Questbridge 2014 National College Match Scholarship Recipient. Liggett was awarded a full scholarship to Princeton University where she plans to pursue a career in astrophysics.

A national nonprofit, Questbridge partners with 35 of the country’s top colleges and universities to help match high-achieving students from low-income backgrounds with admissions and full scholarships. Liggett is one of only 501 students in the country to be named a College Match. Beginning in 2003, the program was designed to increase socio-economic diversity at top colleges. This year’s College Matches had an average unweighted GPA of 3.91 with the middle 50% obtaining an 1870-2130 on the SAT and a 29-33 on the ACT. 84% of the College Matches qualified for a free or reduced price lunch.

In addition to an impressive scholastic background, Liggett has shown great interest and achievement in extracurricular science, technology, engineering and math education (STEM) activities. With a passion for space and astrophysics, Liggett reached out to the STEM Institute where she designed and taught math curriculum during their weeklong summer camp. She was also a recipient of the Lockheed Martin STEM Award.

Outside of her interests in STEM, Liggett is an alumna of the Girls’ Leadership Council (GLC). In a “Q&A” that was featured on the GLC website, Liggett expressed that through GLC she found a passion for philanthropy and learned how to give back regardless of socio-economic circumstances. She works as a volunteer at the Denver Museum of Nature and Science and has played for Heritage’s Varsity Lacrosse Team since her freshman year. She was named to the 2014 US Lacrosse Girls’ All-Academic List.
